Pagani Surface Study

Personal project 2023 — ONGOING Surfacing, 3D Modeling
The premise

It's a personal project I made for fun. There was no deadline, it's not really finished. Just something I get into on and off.

Started because I wanted to redo my first "real" 3D design, back in university, 2019. I started working on the new one around 2023.

Surfacing

This is what the whole exercise is for. Mesh and zebra check on the same camera: the stripes show curvature continuity across the body, so where they run clean the surface is fair, and where they break the transition still needs work. Drag the line.

Sketch and ideation

Proportion rounds on paper, then Vizcom passes over the same lines to test colour, reflection and how the volume reads before committing to the model.

Garage renders

Black paint on a wet floor is the hardest test a surface gets: with no colour to hide behind, every highlight either runs clean along the body or breaks.

Render passes put the car on track, dirty and at speed, to see how the body reads in motion rather than parked under studio light.
